reading up to 338
The first chapter is with Dany. She is riding with her Dothraki army. As she rides and travels on she begins to change. She starts out considering death as a better option to her saddle soars, and her encounters with her king. She begins to understand how to use what she is given as an advantage. She is given power and is at a higher status than her brother which causes tension and violence between the two, where she is finally able to stand up for herself. After this happens I believe she begins to enjoy the role or position she is in now, and is choosing to be fearless in what she does. She becomes comfortable with her husband and take charge. I particularly enjoy this chapter because it is Dany's turning point in becoming a strong female. We also she Tyrion visiting and helping Bran ride a horse. We are introduced to the character Sam who is a shy obese boy sent to the wall. Jon helps him in his struggles and sees the men on the wall are his true brothers. Ned is feeling uneasy about the king's death trying to figure out what really happened. Catelyn takes Tyrion hostage because it was his knife found. As I have written before, I am a big fan of confident, strong female characters and so I really enjoyed Dany's chapter. I am curious to see how she develops as a queen, female and future mother and how she handles her responsibilities in those roles. I am also interested in what Littlefinger's true intensions are whether they are good or bad; or even a bit of both. For some reason I also am a fan of Sam, the coward. I think it is because I am so sympathetic because of why he is so fearful, he seems helpless. I think part of me really wants to see him succeed and become something because I am always a fan of the underdog. My question is what big, shocking thing will he do on the wall? Will he be a significant character?
