There were a lot of contrasting images presented in these chapters. There were odd contrasts between colors and their typical meanings. Take for instance a winter climate covered in white, the white typically represents something innocent and peaceful, in this story it represents death and cruelty. Also, the crow in the story that Bran has become accustomed to feeding turns out to be the life preserver in contrast to its black color. There also seems to be a contrast or opposition of age. It seems that the youngest must grow up the fastest, like Robb who has to run the kingdom while his mother grieves over Bran and Arya who's father implied that she needed to grow up while in their stay at Kings Landing. All of that being in contrast to people like King Robert who likes to live an irresponsible life. I personally feel that the way things are turning out in the book, that which is opposite is going to control. So for instance Jon and Arya are going to take over things because they are the outcasts of the story.
-What was the relevance of Jon being the only bastard mentioned in the story so far?
- If winter is coming, does Ned imply that the family might get hit when talking to Arya?
