Reading to 338
The reading begins with Dany looking over the Dothraki Sea. Which is not a body of water but in fact a great plain of grass. This very big difference is one of the things that shows the contrast between the cultures in the book so far. The Dothraki seem to love nature and the earth much more than western culture and whereas Westeros builds great cities and castles, the Dothraki are a more nomadic people. We the last couple of chapter about Dany we can see her character develop rapidly. Becoming Khaleesi is giving her a sense of control and when she makes Viserys walk she shows that she will not be pushed around anymore. Up North on The Wall we see Jon protect and befriend a new recruit named Sam. Sam is a fat and awkward boy from the South who was unable to fulfill his father's expectations. I think that the reason that they have become friends is because both of them are considered social outcasts. In King's Landing they have the tournament for the Hand and Ned is starting to understand how many political battles are really going on. Evidently the Lannister's were going to try to kill the king during a melee and Jon Arryn was trying tracking down Robert's bastards for some reason. One of the scenes that really interested me was when the Hound was walking Sansa back to her room and he divulged what actually happened to his face. Gregor is a horrible person yet he was appointed a knight. What does it actually mean to be a knight? That mean a person is supposed to be an honorable and noble citizen who protects his people but as we can tell, that is not the case.
