This section of reading included many drastic scenes. We start of quickly with the trial between Bronn and SerVardis and although it was a back and forth battle, Bronn eventually wins. The victory of Bronn sets Tyrion free along the High Road where they encounter some mountain people along the way. Tyrion convinces the mountain people not to kill him and that he will pay them good money if they tag along. In Jon's chapter, we learn that he has been nominated on the Night's Watch but Sam has not. Jon asks the Lord Commander if Sam could be an assistant as he believes he will be of good use. I think once again Jon here is taking a step in the right direction for his character. I think this action by Jon is showing some development in Jon's honor, and is much more than Jon just being 'nice'. In the chapter of Dany, we are put into her new life in the Dothraki. She in developing into her pregnancy and we get the foreshadowing that the son will be very strong and powerfull. Viserys again steps over his boundry with Khal Drogo and has melted gold poured over his head. I think this is a big twist in the story has Dany has now freedom from her brother, but I also think this could be a step towards being under the power of Khal more than before. In Ned's chapter he orders to have his daughters sent back to Winterfell which is obviously a smart choice on his part. He also discovers the secret with Robert...finally. I think this again is a big twist in the book as a lot of things will come of this in the future. Ned confronts Cersei about her children not being Roberts and she admits to it all. He tells her she should go ahead and flee before anyone else finds out. He also warns her that there will always be Robert's men after her and to watch her back. Robert than comes back drunk from hunting, but is also on his death bed and asks Ned to write his will. Instead of writng Joffery as to throne when he is of age, Ned writes next of heir to protect Robert yet not telling him the truth. This little scene tells a lot of Ned and his honor once again. It seems as if he is always the good guy, and never doing wrong by any body.
Discussion Questions:
1. Will Khal Drogo try and enforce more power over Dany now that Viserys is gone? Will this have an effect on the relationship between Khal and Dany?
2. As stated before it seems as if Ned is still keeping in track with his honor filled character. One thing that comes up though, is are these things he doing what in best interest of him and family? Or rather the best interest of others?
