The Starks are confronted with many
problems in this set of reading. Arya is walking around the town when she hears
two men talking about killing Ned. She tells Ned, but it doesn’t seem to
translate to him. Ned has issues with being the hand of the king and decides to
quit. While Ned is about to leave, a
battle erupts between him and Jaime Lannister. Ned gets wounded and Robert
decides to keep him as the hand of the king. This scene shows Ned’s loyalty
because he was willing to give up the hand of the king in order to keep Dany
alive.
While this is happening, Catelyn
still has Tyrion prisoner. Tyrion claims that he was involved in Brans
assassination attempt. Tyrion convinces his captors to use a “trail by combat”,
and Bronn volunteers to fight.
The next
major event happens when Robb takes Bran to practice riding on his new saddle. Relinquished
men from the Night’s Watch attack them. The Direwolves kill all the assailants
but one. They bring the one survivor to Winterfell, where he will be dealt with
accordingly.
I think the capturing, and eventual interrogation, of Brans
assailant will play a big role in determining the source of the attacks.
Why are the escaping Night’s Watch trying to kill Bran?
Why is Bran so important?
Is Ned the perfect King?
What are some of Neds flaws?
What would Brans death bring to the kingdom?
