GOT 338-440

These few chapters held a lot of importance for two specific characters, in my opinion. The first character that held the most importance was Arya. The readers had the opportunity to see her develop into something more of a leader. A leader must have with them the ability to observe, learn the environment, and trust ones own instincts and Arya had proven that through her chapter in following the two men speaking. The second character of importance through this selection had to be Tyrion. This was the second time, but most straight-forward representation of Tyrion's loyalty to his house and his manipulative ways. His speech was filled mainly with that of his representation by his family and avenging his enemies (ways of his house). He also held his ability to observe and find loop holes to gain his escape, like that of the tourney. I believe Martin begins to emphasize both women in power and loyalty as key themes of this selection. Along with themes of women in power, he emphasizes the skills necessary for a women to succeed in her role. To follow off of that point, Martin emphasizes both the benefit and consequence of loyalty.
