I thought the ending of the novel was surprising yet
expected. I think we knew all along that the dragon eggs would eventually
hatch and there would be dragons once again. The ending was still shocking
though. I knew something bad would happen when they brought Dany into the
tent but I had no idea her son would die and the Drogo would practically be
nothing although he lived. I wouldn't have ever expected her to burn him
though. I don't like the fact that if i want to know what happens i have
to read the rest of the books. I thought the book was interesting because
the chapters were front the point of view of certain people. We always
knew what was going on in different parts of the seven kingdoms or at the wall
of with the Dorthraki. I have never read a medevil novel before and I'm
surprised I actually really enjoyed it. It kept my attention and I always
wanted to keep reading to know what was going to happen next. I think the
chapter always kind of left you hanging and you always wanted to know whats
next. I liked the fact that there were
some powerful women in this book. Cersei
and Catelyn were very strong and bold women.
They both stood their ground and were able to influence people around
them. They could give orders and people
would listen to them. I also think they
were both very smart and knew how to talk to people and make them listen or get
what they wanted. The most disturbing
scene to me was when Joffery became king and the City Watch killed all of Ned's
men then went throughout the kingdom and killed everyone. Also all the
heads on the spikes and every time the book talked about women and girls getting
raped I would cringe. That is always one of my worst nightmares. I don’t have one favorite character in the
novel. One that stood out to me would be
Dany. She really grew with every one of
her chapters. She started out as an
innocent twelve year old that was being abused by her brother. Eventually she came to be her own person and
a strong woman who knew what she wanted.
She became very smart and handled situations well. She also grew to love the man she married and
never failed him. The only chapter I liked
Sansa in was her last chapter. She was
so blinded by a high status and marrying Joffery thinking she loved him. In the end she very saw Joffery for who he
really was and even stood up to him. She
took a few beatings but still managed to hold herself together which was shocking
to me. I think I would recommend this
book to others. Depending on what kind of things they like but I found it intriguing
and I think others would too. I really liked it and if I have time I would
consider reading the other ones in the series.
I’m not sure I would ever watch the TV show. I always find that books are usually better
than movies or shows.
