Final GoT

The Game of Thrones ends with many surprises and shocks.  When I first read the book I got the second book as soon as I could so I could keep reading this incredible story.  Because The Game of thrones is only the first book in a very long series, the ending doesn't answer many questions that the reader has.  However, it actually makes twists than advance the plot for the next books.  By the end of the fifth book (that was the last one in the series published) the story is completely different than it was in the Game of Thrones.  In this last section of reading we have many revelations. Joffrey ends up taking Ned's life and orders him to be killed for his "treason."  It was definitely shocking for me when I read the book first.  I never thought that Martin would remove one of the key, if not the main, character especially so soon in the series.  I was very happy for Tryion, since he's one of my favorite characters.  Tywin gives him the responsibility of being the Hand during his absence and cites the reason why him instead of someone else is because Tyrion is his son.  The fact the Tywin recognized Tyrion is a powerful emotional moment for him because this might have been the first time in his life that Tywin acknowledges this.  I'm glad that Jon Snow was able to come to his senses and return to the wall.  Of course having his friends track him down before he really got into any trouble helps.  It was very exciting to find out that the Watch was going to go beyond that wall for the first time.  I think that definitely makes Jon's story more interesting than it has.  So far it has just been him discovering who he is and who he cares more about, his family or the Watch.  Now we'll see him go beyond the wall where there are sure to be some exciting story lines.  The biggest shock at the end of Game of Thrones didn't happen in Westeros though, rather across the Narrow Sea.  With Khal Drogo dying, we weren't sure what would become of Dany.  But what happened at the end assured the reader that she would be ok.  When she burns Drogo's body she steps into the fire with her three dragon eggs.  Once the fire has burnt out we see Dany standing there with three baby dragons.  This pretty much assures us that Dany has the blood of dragons in her.  While she may not be rich or prosperous at the moment, her dragons will pave the way for a good future.  They bring her power that she didn't have before.
