GOT Final

This book was defiantly a struggle for me to read. I enjoyed some parts very much but Im not sure if the genre/series is one i will find myself reading for "fun" anytime soon. I perhaps would like the show because it might be easier to follow each character and it could grasp my attention more. I agree with another person's post on here about Arya and is she ever made it home? She's been on a rough patch and has been on her own for too long. I feel like this book left us on a nasty cliff hanger and I will have to read (or watch) the other series to figure out what will happen next.
The character that I connected and enjoyed reading the most about was Dany. I actually got excited when her chapters would come up, which was rare for me in this book series. I felt terrible when she lost her son and Drogo, she was left with nothing. No matter what time period this situation happens in, it is never easy and my heart broke for her. All the goals she had (and her brother) are now wiped away in an instant. Their plan has fallen through and she is left with nothing now, but her dragons that have finally hatched, these could potentially be the answers to her future.  I think she showed the most character development throughout the book and this is another thing that will add to her ride to power and her wanting to continue to be powerful.
Sansa on the other hand I find highly annoying and dramatic, but I did somewhat feel bad for her when Joeffry hit her and made her bleed. Some people might think she deserved this for how she was acting, but I do think it was a little harsh-- even for Sansa. I also was shocked that Ned was killed.. by Joeffry. I really liked the Starks and Ned in general. I feel like he was one of the major characters so it was a plot twist to see that he is now dead and will not be in the other books.
Overall I do think this book was a good book for a class because it is different then a lot of the "classics" we are forced to read. This one also has a good tie into modern day society with our research papers we are writing. Although I probably won't watch the show religiously, or read another book associated with the Game of Thones I think Martin is a very good writer and highly intelligent with how he connects everything.
