This book ended in a way that makes
you almost HAVE to read the next one. First we get Dany losing her husband and
child which is tragic, but in turn her dragon eggs hatch which means she can
defeat anyone she wants too. The beheading of Ned and the somewhat kidnapping
of Arya throws me for a turn. It was very stupid of joffery to do that to Ned
because now he has brought upon a war he is not prepared for. His power hungry
mindset is about to get him killed. I think it’s terrible that sansa had to witness
that but honestly she deserved it. She betrayed her family and it could’ve been
way worse. I feel like a lot of people who didn’t like dany are now forced to
sympathize with her because technically she has nothing but a crazy brother. He
is also and interesting character because he seems to be the only one that can’t
be swayed. It’s sad that when she finally starts to feel true feelings for
drogo he is a vegetable and cant love her back. I think she is going to rebel
out. Another person who comes into power at the end of the novel is rob aryn.
He is now pronounced king of Winterfell and they are about to go crazy at kings
landing. The fact that joffery makes sansa look at her father’s head and then
hits her sticks out to me a lot because she is going to eventually try to kill
him, she just has too. In general i think the conversations and statements that
martin is trying to make are very profound. He kills off Ned this early for a
reason and i think that reason is to show that loyalty and power can get you messed
up. I also think he is trying to say that women are more powerful than they
seem and when you think you’ve lost it all, there is still more to come. Overall
I enjoyed this book and it’s a great feeling to watch the show and actually
know who they are talking about. I think it was a very inspirational read
because many of the events that happen in the novel can somehow be related to
times today. I don’t think I can handle reading the next book on my own but I
will definitely watch the show because there are a lot of unanswered questions
and cliffhangers.
