Unit 1 Summary

I decided to contrast the idea that psychological issues are the main reason for violence, not the media within 3 authors who all had different beliefs. I personally believe that psychological issues are responsible for these violent tragedies- BUT exposure to this violence can trigger this attribute within someone who is mentally unstable. While in the article "Violent media poisoning nation's soul" LaSalle makes the point that the media is teaching our kids to kill by poisoning them with ideas based on movies and video games. This idea is supported also by Nance in the article "hollywood hypocrisy on media violence" making the argument children admire celebrities and could copy what one does in a movie. OR if they are for a certain policy restraint, our views are skewed based on their ideas/values. Lastly I chose the article "Psychology of mass killing" by Ghose who explains that we are born with these mental issues, or they are an outcome of our childhood which create the mind of a murderer.
