Topic Summary
For my topic of violence in the media I am choosing to focus on the impact of the media violence on children and adolescents. The article I chose was written by a doctor and director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training in Massachusetts. He states that there has been an increase in televisions in the house since the 1950s which I do agree on that 99 percent of people do own at least 1 television. So he says that it is easier for children and adolescents to watch violent shows or movies now. The whole article talks about how little children and adolescents have the chance or opportunity to watch violent shows when no one is watching over them. Also, in the first article I found Dr. Eugene Beresin states that children look up to these violent people as heroes and I believe that is wrong. I watched tons of shows that had heroes in it but I never would kill someone or do something violent. I choose this article because it is giving reasons and facts about the impact of the media violence on children and adolescents. The other article I choose that we read would be the article with the interview with Quentin Tarantino. I choose that article because it is going against my first article saying there is no correlation between media violence and actually doing violent things. In my opinion, I believe that there is no correlation between media violence and real life violence. I have been watching and playing violent movies and games but I know what is right from wrong.
