Response to the Readings

I have always held the belief that the violence in Hollywood/video games argument for shootings in recent years have always been a sort of excuse for the real issue at hand- gun control.  These readings gave strong evidence to my opinion and helped me confirm my stance of this particular issue.  I firmly believe that the main cause behind violent attacks can mainly be blamed at a lack of gun control policies. While there may be some sort of connection between violent video games and deadly shootings, as we found out in article 1, it cannot be regarded as a causal relationship.   As human beings, we are inherently violent.  As human beings, it is a necessity to be agressive.  So it is natural that we are attracted to violent tv shows and video games.  Millions of people, billions even, watch or play violent and aggressive games/shows and do not show any signs of a potential murderer.  I've played call of duty and seen Django Unchained but I have absolutely no desire to cause harm to another individual because of it.  The bottom line is that there is a very small percentage of people who want to hurt other citizens and it is up to us to ensure that those people cannot gain access to weapons that will allow their fantasies of destruction to come true.  If James Holmes and Adam Lanza wouldn't have been able to purchase or find guns, the shootings in Aurora and at Sandy Hook Elementary couldn't have happened.   Unfortunately it is too late to save the innocent lives lost in those tragedies but if proper gun control regulations are passed and enforced, it's possible that we can save future victims from such disasters.
